The goal of Expo 2027 is to become a meeting place for the entire world, while also offering Serbia a unique opportunity to showcase itself as a country of tourism and economic potential, a nation that embraces cutting-edge technological achievements while preserving its traditions and cultural identity. So far, sprinter and eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt and actor Jackie Chan are brand ambassadors who will help showcase Belgrade to the world and foster new bridges of collaboration, creating a better future for generations to come.
Serbia won the right to host Expo 2027 in a competition that included the United States (Minnesota), Thailand (Phuket), Spain (Malaga), and Argentina (Bariloche). Under the theme “Play for Humanity: Sport and Music for All”, the Expo 2027 will explore how these universal activities contribute to global connection, mental and physical well-being, and social development. This theme resonates with everyone, regardless of age, background, or profession, and Serbia is widely recognized for its sporting excellence, musical heritage, and intellectual talent.
Belgrade Expo 2027 will be held on a 25-hectare site in a newly developed urban area. The total estimated cost of the project, including supporting infrastructure, is €1.29 billion.
Serbia has been involved in the Expo movement for more than 140 years, having made its debut as the Kingdom of Serbia at the Antwerp International Exposition in 1885. During the 20th century, Yugoslavia maintained a strong presence at international expositions, earning recognition for the creativity and impact of its pavilions and presentations. Since 2006, Serbia has continued this tradition by joining every World and Specialized Expo, from Shanghai 2010 and Milan 2015 to Astana 2017, Dubai 2020, and now Osaka 2025.
