The Weeknd Stuns Serbs! Is the Superstar Secretly in Belgrade?

The latest Instagram post from the famous Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd left many of his 75 million followers confused with its creepy-looking doll, but viewers from Serbia were especially stunned, as products spotted on the table suggest the global celebrity might be in the Balkans, likely in Belgrade.

The latest photo published on Instagram by The Weeknd shows a table cluttered with what appears to be an art project in progress. At the center of the mess is an eerie, unfinished human-like doll. While most viewers speculated that the creepy project might be a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the artist’s new music video, Serbs were particularly shocked to recognize familiar brand packaging on the table, suggesting that the superstar may secretly be in Serbia.

In the photo, there are two large packages of sour cream (pavlaka) from a well-known brand, a familiar brand of toothpicks, and an empty plastic water bottle from another famous Serbian brand. Additionally, the white plastic cups appear to be filled with Turkish coffee. Is The Weeknd indulging in Serbian culture while working on a new project?

Some commenters suggest that The Weeknd is not in Serbia; instead, Serbian artist Nenad Gajić is creating the figure for him, and The Weeknd simply posted about it. That is also very likely.

Another famous person, Anthony Padilla, visited Belgrade a few days ago and got a tattoo. Completely blending in with the Eastern European aesthetic, the American internet celebrity unwound by smoking in a small room, using a dirty old ashtray, and drinking from a cup that said “Ew, people.” He pleasantly surprised many Serbs by embracing the local vibe and fully immersing himself in the atmosphere.

Speaking of celebrities in Serbia, Kim Kardashian was reportedly scheduled to visit Belgrade on June 16, likely to open a SKIMS shop, according to local media reports from April. However, it is now June 18, and there has been no further news about the reality TV star’s visit.
